Recycling
PHS Wastetech offers a comprehensive recycling service.
This service forms part of our commitment to help reduce the use of raw materials and the ever decreasing space in landfill sites. Furthermore, recycling your waste conforms to the new EU legislation on pre-treatment of waste prior to landfill.
Paper
Office paper in the workplace environment is collected in plastic sacks which are easy to store and suitable for confined areas where space for wheelie bins maybe already at a premium. These recyclable materials are collected on a regular schedule and paper is sent to our national network of paper reprocessing facilities to return this valuable material to the paper making industry.
Cardboard
Cardboard is collected in the same manner as paper, using separate bags to ensure waste streams are segregated and can be recycled in the most environmentally friendly manner. Cardboard is delivered to industry where it is treated and pulped before being pressed back into sheets and dried for re-use as cardboard.
Glass
Mixed bottle glass recycling services can be provided to bars, restaurants, pubs and hotels. Eurobins are provided in 240 litre or 360 litre capacity for storage of mixed colour glass which is collected on designated recycling vehicles. This mixed bottle glass is then sent direct to the glass manufacturing industry to re-use as glass based products including glasphalt, a new road laying material.

- - Recycling a tonne of paper saves almost 13 trees as well as saving 2.5 barrels of oil, 4100 kWh of electricity, 4 cubic metres of landfill and 31,780 litres of water
- - Every year we need a forest the size of Wales to provide the paper we use in Britain. 70% less energy is required to recycle paper compared with making it from raw materials
- - Recycling two glass bottles saves enough energy to boil water for five cups of tea. Glass is 100% recyclable and can be used again and again
