A. All collections have a specified EWC code which indentifies the type of waste PHS Wastetech are obliged to collect. The majority of general waste collections are EWC 20 03 01 'mixed municipal waste'. This waste must be non-hazardous, compactable, dry and light. Items that cannot be disposed of in general waste include fluorescent tubes, batteries, tyres, rubble/bricks, large amounts of metal or any liquids. Please see 'Legislation' section of the web site for further advice.
A. No. This is because separately collected fluorescent tubes are classified as Hazardous waste and it is an offence to mix Hazardous and Non hazardous waste. DEFRA and the Environment Agency have advised that once a fluorescent tube has been removed from its fitting it has to be separately collected. PHS Waste Management can arrange separate collections of fluorescent tubes for you.
A. No. This is because quantities of such waste as nappies are classified as offensive waste and need to be collected separately from your non-hazardous waste stream. PHS All Clear can provide services for all healthcare and clinical waste requirements.
